On this page you will find links to local opportunities for students to experience and learn STEM concepts. Many will lead to organizations in the area that help children with programs and activities. Others may lead to web sites that contain information.

Science Station

Visit the Science Station's website, www.sciencestation.org to learn more about our 2009 summer camp program, with classes offered in Cedar Rapids at Lindale Mall and Iowa City at The University of Iowa College of Engineering. Children aged 4-11 attend week-long camps on STEM topics between June 8 and August 7. Paid instructors and volunteer classroom assistants needed. Contact Stacey Brooks, program coordinator, at 270-0021 for more information. Also available, opportunities in special programming and exhibit facilitation at new exhibit space at Lindale Mall -- early childhood area, permanent and traveling exhibits.



University of Iowa

The University of Iowa College of Engineering offers an assortment of fun and educational opportunities for students in grade 4 through 12. Visit their web site for all the details.

Iowa State University

The Iowa State University Linn County Extension presents Engineering is Elementary to help students learn about engineering. This program is for students completing the third and fourth grades. Kirkwood Community College

Kirkwood Interactive Camps for Kids are designed to provide your child an enriching summer experience filled with exciting adventures and positive learning experiences.
