There are many ways you can get involved as a community activist to help improve or enhance Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education in the corridor area. Please consider joining in the effort through one or more of the ways listed below. Select areas of interest to you and submit the form. The information will be sent to the appropriate contact who will follow up with you!

I/my company would be willing to do the following (check all that apply)…

Volunteer Support: Volunteer at my local school to help support STEM education. (Volunteers may be subject to schools’ rules for selection and/or background checks of in-school volunteers.)

Have a scientist or engineer help train teachers on STEM-related curriculum

Become a mentor for FIRST Lego League.

Have a scientist or engineer from our company speak to students about STEM careers.

Serve as a volunteer to help support one of the summer learning enhancement programs.

Support the Workplace Learning Connection in the following ways:

Host student interns at our business.
Host student job shadows at our business.
Host student tours at our business.
Speak to classes.

Financial Support: Pay stipends for teams of teachers to attend Engineering is Elementary training: $125/day/teacher

Provide financial support for The Workplace Learning Connection.

Join the Cedar Rapids Science Station. ($60 for a family/ $45 for two persons per year).

Join The Iowa Children’s Museum. ($100 for a family)

Sponsor the cost of a student field trip to the Science Station. (approximately $4 per student.)

Provide financial support to summer learning enhancement programs ($30 per student)

Purchase 32 Engineering is Elementary books for a summer enrichment class. ($143.96)

Purchase a science kit for the Grant Wood AEA Van Allen Science Teaching Center ($300-$700).

Purchase an Engineering is Elementary science kit ($250)
